Gamma Oryzanol- When of oils from corn, barn, rice, barley are mixed with ferulic acid esters of sterols and triterpene alcohols, the end product is what is known as the Gamma oryzanol. Plant cells carry gamma oryzanol as one of the most important antioxidants. Isolation, extraction and purification of gamma oryzanol have been going on since the mid 1950’s. The first country to use this as a medicine was Japan way back in 1962. Research shows that gamma oryzanol helps in treatment for menopause, elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In recent times, gamma oryzanol has been used as a supplement in bodybuilding. But research is still unclear as to whether it has any benefits or not. Gamma oryzanol has also been used to treat gastronomical problems. It helps in increasing the nervous system control which thus helps in controlling digestive secretion.
